JLBJH Christmas Concert to be Streamed Live
18th November, 2013
JLBJH will be headlining the German radio station SWR1's Christmas Concert on Sunday, 22nd December, at the Emmerich-Smola-Saal of SWR Studios in Kaiserslautern. The show begins at 1900 German time (1800 UK time), and there will be a live audio and video stream over the web.
Tickets, priced at 10 Euros, will be available from 25th November from the Thalia Bookshop, Kerststraße 9-15, 67655 Kaiserslautern (Tel.: 0631 / 362190) or direct from the SWR Studio, Fliegerstraße 36, 67657 Kaiserslautern (Tel.: 0631 / 36228395-65). They are also obtainable by e-mailing kaiserslautern@swr.de.

New Download Single

John Lees' Barclay James Harvest's new version of "Hymn", which was recorded for a recent German television programme, is to be made available as a download-only single.
The single will be released on 25th November, and will be available on iTunes and all good digital music retailer sites.
New Edition of BJH Book
17th October, 2013
Completely revised and updated, the second edition of our biography of the band, The Barclay James Harvest Story, will be published at the end of October.
This edition includes two brand new chapters covering the period from 2005 to date, and the earlier chapters contain much new material and previously unseen photographs. There is also a completely new section comprising fans' recollections and essays on the band.

Now in stock are two re-issued DVDs: Caught Live is now available in a digipack on the Store For Music label, with exactly the same content as the previous releases on Classic Pictures and Warner Music, whilst Wienerworld's Live At The Town and Country Club is a re-package of the 25th Anniversary Concert DVD previously released by Classic Rock Productions. JLBJH On Magazine Cover Discs

"On Leave", from the new John Lees' Barclay James Harvest album, North, is included in all its nine-minute glory on not one, but two music magazine cover discs this month!
The forthcoming issues of Prog magazine and Rock Society both include the piece on their free CD, and Prog also includes a four-page interview with the band about the album. Prog can be found in good newsagents in the UK, and both magazines can be ordered from anywhere in the world from their respective web sites:

John Lees' Barclay James Harvest - North

The long-awaited, brand-new studio album from John Lees' Barclay James Harvest will be released on October 7th by Esoteric Antenna.
Final tracklisting is still to be confirmed, but will include "Ancient Waves", "On Leave", and the grand finale, showcasing the album's title track.
The album will be available on three different formats: standard CD, deluxe double CD digipack with the second disc comprising highlights from the band's emotional farewell concert for Woolly at the Buxton Opera House, and a single vinyl LP (with two less tracks) on heavyweight 180g vinyl in a luxury gatefold sleeve. The vinyl LP will be a strictly limited edition of no more than 1,000 copies.

A new "Best Of" CD is on its way on August 26th, released on the Spectrum label by Universal. The set covers material from 1974 to 1990, including a couple of Harvest-era songs in their Live '74 incarnations.

Martin Lawrence

Just reported on the Barclay James Harvest Featuring Les Holroyd Facebook page:
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden death of our friend and sound engineer Martin Lawrence.
Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
Les, Mike, Steve, Colin, Louie, Olli, Chris, Tino, Noz, Rajko, Alex, Sabine, Chrissie, Charlene and Markus
Very shocked to hear this news. Martin, of course, was not only a sound engineer, but also the co-producer of XII, Eyes Of The Universe, Turn Of The Tide, Caught In The Light and Nexus.
Sincere condolences to his friends and family.

"Unreservedly Yours" will be featured on the band's new album North, to be released both physically and digitally in September 2013 on the Esoteric Antenna label. Featuring John Lees (vocals, guitars), Craig Fletcher (vocals, bass), Jez Smith (keyboards, vocals) and Kevin Whitehead (drums, percussion), the song and forthcoming album are very much group efforts, in the tradition of classic BJH, with every track being written specifically for the album by all four members of the band.

The Fifties Child Book

This new book by long-time BJH fan Alex Torres is an insightful social history which covers many of the key aspects of the second half of the 20th century and the early part of the 21st, and looks at how they have been portrayed in more than 125 songs by Barclay James Harvest.

Glasnost Remastered

On March 25th, Esoteric Recordings will issue a remastered and expanded version of the Glasnost album, recorded live in East Berlin in 1987. The remaster includes the whole of the original concert in the correct running order, with six tracks which were not on the original CD, five of which are previously unreleased in any form. The 2CD set will come in a foldout digipack with new sleevenotes.
