Recorded back in 1972 with musicians such as Rod Argent, Eric Stewart and Kev Godley and produced by Wally Waller of the Pretty Things, A Major Fancy got shelved during contractual negotiations for Barclay James Harvest's move from Harvest to Polydor. It was eventually released on the Harvest Heritage label in 1977, but didn't appear on CD until 1999, when it was issued by Eagle Records with three bonus tracks recorded in 1974.
